I know that this location in the pics above was discussed in class today and pretty much dismissed, i thought i would put it up here anyway as i think its a pretty good location.
Its in the valley, so very good for public transport and its a gallery run by artists, for artists. Its called THE FORT, and is also the home of REHAB RECORDS as well as being an art gallery that currently has a lot of graffiti style art for sale there at the moment.
I have spoken to the guy in charge of the art gallery who's name is Pete and he is also a member of the coalition crew, which is a brisbane based hip hop / rap group signed to obese records. He has told me the location is available on the date we want, but has been slack on emailing me the floor plans and additional information i asked for. It is a large venue that probably would hold 300 people or more.
I walked past our other location possibility, ALLONEWORD and their maximum capacity is 167 people so this may not be suitable for us.
Our team leader Arianna also called THE FORT after i discussed the location with her, and she spoke to a woman that works there who gave a possible price of $300.

Since it seems that West End is the preffered location, the location team has arranged to check out 2 locations there on Friday the 16th.

ReplyDeletethis location is my favourite out what we have seen, it has all the correct requirements that we need and i believe that the price will be lower becuase the exhibit will only be one night and not 2-3 weeks long but i also think that 300 isn't that bad of a price. thank you Marie :)
ReplyDeleteOur last class before the break someone kindly gave us a cafe called the bleedingHeart cafe, the place was excellent but unfortunately they were booked out on the date we wanted. Thought i would add that just in case anyone was wondering about that location.

marie, i definitely agree on the fort as it is the best location, found so far... i actually was at the fort a while ago. and it would fit perfectly for our situation. i know its 300 dollars but this is good for what we are trying to learn. it's a good goal to aspire to and it is a very professional venue. the fort is known for hosting good artists and for us to show our work their would be pretty amazing.

- close to transport ( 6 min walk from brunskwick trains station.)
- holds 300+ people
-Toilets
-the location is very creative and artistic
some facts we need to ask the fort ppl
- is alchol aloud?
-is there fridges/kitchenettes?
