WHO WANTS A TOUR OF THE LOCATION

Hey guys, it's Marie Thomas from the location team again...

The time has come for some of us students to meet Pete, the art director of THE FORT.

Obviously i have been to the location and it meets my approval. I believe some of you have your reservations... and Pete wants to troubleshoot in person.

So this is a great opportunity for anyone that has any issues to go along to the location, meet the art director and ask any questions.

Possibly the team leaders of all teams should attend, or maybe one person from each group.

This could be the time for the fundraising team to pay Pete, for the installation team to ask about how and where the photos will displayed, for the entertainment / catering team to suss out where / if a band / dj will be set up, and a place for the food / drinks to be stored etc, and so on.

The additonal information i have received from Pete is that if we were to serve alcohol then we would need to apply for a once - off liquor license, and there would be no wristband system, everyone would HAVE TO BE OVER 18. Therefore this will be an alcohol free event. Food is fine to serve, so maybe the catering team can organise non alcoholic drinks?

I was also told yesterday that we do not get the upstairs area, just the whole of the downstairs. However if we have heaps of people attend, and people go along and treat Pete like a King on the meeting day, then maybe we can get upstairs too, and every other thing we want. This is really a good opportunity for everyone to meet Pete, check out the location and make sure you get what you want for your night and your exhibition.

As discussed the price is now $500, reduced from $900.

Pete also said that there would be advertising included in this price, so if a member of the advertising team was to go along to the meeting with Pete, this could be sorted out once and for all!

A member of our location team would also need to attend to finally get the floorplans that I have been emailing Pete about for weeks.

SO... Pete is waiting for my reply of a meeting day and time. I would recommend that anyone that wishes to go comments on this blog, and i will keep checking in on it and call Pete and arrange the suitable time.

Cheers everyone : )

  2. I would like a place on the Tour of the location please.

I think our team, maybe more than one person from our team needs to defo come with and look at everything to access all our possible options in relation to installation..

Please could you let me know the details of this tour once they have been established ?
    Thanks a million! :)

  5. I think that we need to take into consideration light space? it seems more appealing even if the price is more...we may be able to get it for cheaper in the end. but I think it would definitely help out the catering side to things and the number of people also.

  8. thanks "anonymous", maybe put your name to your comment and you should grow up, we are trying to make sure we dont get ripped off and actually have enough space for everything. i think if the guy is being shady about what we actually do get to use then its not a good deal.

  10. To be honest :
If i was the owner or whatever status Pete holds, and I googled the event's name just to see if anything comes up (I can say , If I was him, I would, because I google everything related to people I do business with including the physical people that represent the business that is doing business with me) and came across this blog, and saw this post. I would tell us to go find another location due to the references to him.
I dont know what levels of business backgrounds and professions people come from - But making references of such nature = A big NO.
Its unprofessional and just not on people.. Further, you never know who hears / sees nor comes across things like this.

On another note, The Location team needs to make this decision as its their appointed duties by the class. The class was given time to suggest locations when we first started, and for the following lectures.
Time is getting pretty tight at the moment, and if this is treated on the level of jumping ship to clearer waters every time a new location is found and suggested -- We more than likely will end up without a location.

My simple suggestion : If the location team can negotiate the spaces within The Fort that would be great. If not, its up to their team to establish a plan of action, and take it from there.. I understand that people just want the best possible location, but its a fair share of added pressure for them to try attempt to book a place, have meetings with the relevant people, and then report back to everyone, and have another suggestion thrown out again, and the process is repeated.

    Thats my two cents.
    Have a good weekend everyone!

  11. I'm pretty sure the location team checked out lightspace and they said they were booked on the day we wanted it... we can check again to clarify, although a lot of the class was not happy with paying $500, so i dont know how a $1000 price tag will go down.

If THE FORT is not the place that everyone wants then I need to know asap as I have spent weeks emailing, texting and calling and making negotiations with the fort. I was under the impression to make the booking, therefore if this is not the desired location i need to tell the fort so that they can let someone else book it and so im not wasting my time or the forts time anymore.

Also i dont know why people are saying that the fort is being shady... as far as i know i have been the only person in contact with Pete from the fort and he has not been shady at all, just helpful.

Cheers, Marie Thomas, Location Team : )

  12. i was referring to what was stated in the original post about us not getting upstairs unless we "treat him like a king". it seems that the details about what space we actually have available to use are unclear. i just think further clarification is necessary before it gets booked.

  14. i think robs got a good post... but seriously we dont have any more time to be messing around with this, i thought we had allready booked the fort last wednesday?? i think marie is doing a good job getting things sorted and we cant really ask her for more. the fort will be fine for what we are doing no more questions asked. if its not booked by now i think it needs to be. my opinon. thanks

  15. I agree with Graham, we all decided on the fort, the Lightspace does sound good, but we can't expect the location team to start over with this new place after all the work they did on the fort.

When you do the walk through just let us know i would like to come as part of the installation team.
