A shout out from SNACKMAT!

Hey everyone! Amy here, on behalf of the Catering Team (S.N.A.C.K.M.A.T)

A few people were inquiring about what we are going to be serving on exhibition night and in the last class we managed to put the finishing touches on our menu. So, we now have an official menu list!

We will be presenting this to you during one of the upcoming classes, complete with visuals… so if you have any questions or concerns you are more than welcome to address them then :)

Twooo more things…

I’ve had some questions regarding whether we’ll be preparing and serving the food ourselves -- yep, you bet ya! This is to help ease some stress, as a professional catering team would be impractical on a limited budget… so by doing it ourselves, we’ll be cutting cost but by no means cutting quality. Our team has baking and hospitality students, so we know what we’re doing.

Lastly, ENTERTAINMENT – as far as entertainment goes, we are still waiting to find out what the location is because some venues have restrictions. If the venue will allow it, we’re having a live acoustic set and cd’s on loop to create a little atmosphere. (We'll get back to you on this ;)

Hope that helps and clears up a few things xo

  1. have you guys thought of maybe hiring a few waiters? this would allow you to enjoy the exhibition as well, rather than constantly be carrying food/drinks around?

  2. i spose it all depends on the location....some issues will occur especially with the drinks/alchol. if its licenced or what not..or maybe the location has special requirments with food n drinks, i dunno.... i guess we have to wait on location, then we can sort out everythin and ask the owners of the location questions .

thats a good factor raised, theres good and bad points about serving and not serving...

its good too get involved on the night, like i have done it before at heaps of exhibtions, its great fun, maybe like dress up,or secretly wear masks, i dunno. its intresting to watch and see how things run..its our job were on the catering team lol

..some times you can be sneaky and stand behind people while they look at ur work, while they comment it. lol

on the other hand it would just be awesome to be at the show and let other people do all the work
    hehehehheh

but remember everything depends on the location.

    thanks hepas ]

  3. Hey Bec, that's a really good idea :) and Nadz, you have some great points too babe! At the end of the day, it really just depends on location and how much $$$ we have to play with.

We're all fine with serving if it comes down to that, we knew what we were getting into when we chose Catering. So, we'll just see how things play out... no stress ;)

  4. I think there is so many issue with money at the moment so I think that if we are happy to do it at intervals then it should be fine but I understand what you guys are saying. :) And Amy just wondering if I could get a copy of the menu so I can send you some of the recipes?

  5. Sarah you smarty! I totally forgot to mention that... at this stage the Catering Team is going to be serving in shifts or "rounds" and not for the whole duration of the evening, this way we should still have time to interact and enjoy the night :)

Totally Sarah, I will msg you the menu.

  11. hey just noticed a couple of comments about money.. Im from the sponsorship team and if you could let us know how much money you want/need we will do our best to raise that amount for you.. as far as i know we havn't had many requests for money yet obviously aside from the location team but please let us know so we can raise the money for you. we are here to help you. for example with the waiters.. if you would like waiters we can have a look at how much that would cost and then let you know if it would be possible or not..

    thanks

The types of foods we'll be serving are finger foods, as we're just providing something light to snack on and make the whole evening that little bit more enjoyable :)
Being a vegetarian myself, the group has considered the importance of having some "vegetarian friendly" options on the menu. So yes there will be veggie options - love the way you think!

What a sweetie.. but as far as I know, the Catering Team is content with the idea of serving for the event and we will be putting together a quote soon!
The only problem is, we can't really quote the event until we know the Location (venue capacity, how many people are expected to attend) because we need to know roughly how many we're catering for/quantity of food we'll require. I will try to have this organised soon though :)

    Thanks guys,
    Amy

So in class tomorrow I will introduce you guys and you can present the class with the amazing menu you have formulated and if you could also let the sponsorship and budgeting team know how much money you will be needing to buy all the ingredients that would be great!
