Image Criteria ie. Size

A submission has come in that would be enhanced with size ie. it is a panoramic image. To crop it smaller to A4 etc. would make it relatively small and thin. What do the class feel about image size, should the images be restricted, should concessions be allowed and if so why/whynot? Please note that any additional printing costs would be made by the photographer.

  1. The image in question deals with the subject of space and the increased drama that is created with it. Brett of DarkroomRaiders.

  2. I can see the need for size in this image. However I feel the content and subject matter could be photographed in a different way and not need panorama. It would possibly grow to the size of 3x A4 in length. I think if the other images were A3 then I dont think it would worry me. Brett

  3. So are you saying that the images have to be A4? Because that photo I just sent you guys is square haha woops.

  4. Sorry I meant if the others were A3. No not saying they have to be A4 as a size is relative to floor plan, but may be a possability. If your image is square then it would just have some large border issues if A4 was the selected image size. Olivia what are your opinions on the size issue? Brett.

  5. Ooooooooohhhhhh uh well borders would not look very good with my image because they won't be equal on every side so that is a negative. I could always edit my image so it can fit A4/3 but then it wouldn't look as effective. So I'd have to say that everyone should be able to have sizes of their own choice? Unless it's ridiculously difficult to do so?

  6. i feel that in the panoramic brett that the idea of cropping it would wreak the feel for it but i don't understand how the image can be reorganised to bring through the dramatised scene similar to the original panoramic? do you think we could make the panoramic an exception, only if we are dealing with specified dimensions for prints?

  7. aww no, we cant make exceptions for one person, coz then some ppl might get up set, coz they might not get the actual size that they want and the other person dose get what they want. omg so connfusssing :P if it was my execption id make mine like a band poster size.lol

  9. we have to be careful here cause once we start making exceptions it really opens up the flood gates, but we may have other spaces, as the fort has a lot of sections and maybe we could have a couple of prints in different places, but any extra cost must be cover by the person, and must be print at the same place as all the prints get done

  11. Hi Darkroom Raiders,

I am taking it for granted that my image (The above mentioned panoramic) has been approved and is all good for my submission as I have not received any communication past the emails dated 29/04? I have constantly been checking the Blog and my email awaiting confirmation/conclusion, but have not received any.
I understand people are hectic busy with organizing this and in addition all our other assignments and trying to have something we attempt to call a social life inbetween, but due date is tomorrow and I submitted a week in advance to provide time for myself to re shoot if there was to be a problem.

    Thanks guys,
    Have a good day!
